Pia BRINZEU

Born in Timisoara. Essayist, literary critic. Member of the Writers Union of Romania.
Faculty of Philology, University of Timisoara, Department of English-Romanian (1971). In 1978 obtained his doctorate in philology (anglistică). Professor at the Faculty of Philology, University of Timisoara. He was head of the Department of English Language and Literature of the West University of Timisoara and director of the "Socrates", and is now rector of the university.
Editor of "Conditions of Semiotics", co-editor of "British and American Studies," member societies: European Society for the Study of Enghish, International Shakespeare Association, International Association of Semiotics, Austrian Association of Semiotics, the Society of Sciences Philology, Romanian Society for the Study Anglistice and American studies, Romanian Society for the Study of the eighteenth century, the Romanian Society of Comparative Literature. Member of the Association of Romania - Israel. He was invited to teach courses in semiotics and linguistics at the University of Urbino (1995). He lectured at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA (1998). He won the contest a two-year contract (1993-1995) with the Central European University for drafting labyrinths in Europe: Essays in Contemporary British and Romanian Fiction. He participated in international symposia and congresses and semiotic anglistică held in: Vienna, Budapest, Passau, The Hague, Munich, Graz, Innsbruck, Tübingen, Urbino, Mexico, etc. Karlsruhe.
